Superintendent's Message - April 2016
Pleasants County Schools is in full swing with Spring Events and Activities. It is a very busy time for all of our students and their families. The fourth nine weeks is under way with mid-terms coming out on April 22, 2016.  Each school is gearing up for the General Summative Assessment (GSA) and we know our students will perform well. Thanks to our teachers who have been working diligently to prepare them for these tests.  The assessment will be administered in Pleasants County Schools the week of May 16th, 2016.  
Pre-K Pre-Registration and Enrollment

Any Pleasants County child entering kindergarten next school year who did not attend preschool in Pleasants County (must be 5 yrs of age before September 1, 2016). Any Pleasants County child wanting to attend Pre-k in Pleasants County (must be 4 yrs of age before September 1, 2016). If you have concerns that your child is experiencing delays, even if he or she will not be 4 yrs old by September 1, 2016, please call to register for a screening! ENROLLMENT will be conducted on May 19th and 20th at Belmont Elementary and St. Marys Elementary Schools. Pre-Registration Call-In FEBRUARY 29– MARCH 11, 2016, from 8:30-3:00. Call 304-684-2215 to pre-register and receive a registration packet.  

PEIA Healthy Tomorrows Three-Year Initiative
Staff - PEIA policy holders must see their primary care physician after reporting their doctor’s name to PEIA. Your primary care physician must test your blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol and waist circumference and report it to PEIA on the Healthy Tomorrows Reporting Form before the end of Open Enrollment (April 30, 2016). 
PEIA Forum
 The Pleasants County School Service Personnel Association will host a forum concerning the proposed changes in our PEIA health insurance. The meeting will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 6:30 pm in the SMHS auditorium.  A panel consisting of Senator Donna Boley, Senator Bob Ashley, Delegate Woody Ireland as well as Mr. Josh Sword of the PEIA insurance board will be sharing their views on the situation and answering questions... 
Substitute Calling System Launch

This is an important message for all Pleasants County Schools substitute employees. Beginning on November 21st, Pleasants County will begin using eSchool Solutions SmartFindExpress automated substitute calling system for jobs beginning on or after November 30th. All substitute employees should be getting a mailing with instructions on how to setup their accounts this week. We ask that you call in to the number provided on the instructions and setup your account by November 20th...  

West Virginia School Service Personnel Day
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has proclaimed September 25, 2015 as West Virginia School Service Personnel Day.  
New School Release Times for BES and PCMS
Belmont Elementary and Pleasants Middle will now be releasing students at 3:20 p.m. to better coordinate transportation of students due to the opening of the new St. Marys High School. All other schools will continue to release students at 3:30 p.m. This will also affect early release days. On early release days, students from Belmont Elementary and Pleasants Middle will be released at 12:50 p.m. If you have any questions concerning these changes, please contact the Pleasants County Schools Transportation Department.
