Pleasants County Schools is nearing the end of the first nine weeks, which will be October 11th, 2019. Report cards will be sent home with students on October 18th. Many educational programs continue to be provided throughout our schools. The continued effort with Math4Life has been a positive addition. Each school’s curriculum and leadership teams have completed their school’s 2019-2020 strategic plan, which outlines their specific reading/language arts and mathematics goals for this year. Our schools are continuing to guide students academically to reach their full potential. Student GSA results and Lexile/Quantile scores have been sent home to parents. The county central office and each school continue to work together and provide valuable professional development.
The Roof and HVAC replacement in the kitchen/cafeteria at St. Marys Elementary is completed, the new hot water tanks at PCMS, and the new HVAC (Bard Units) are installed at Belmont Elementary. We have been so fortunate in Pleasants County to be the recipient of numerous School Building Authority projects. Maintenance and renovation of our schools continues to be a top priority and our facilities reflect the great care we take of them. The storm water project at SMHS has started. I appreciate everyone’s patience with traffic in the mornings and afternoons, as this project is a needed improvement to St. Marys High School, the Mid-Ohio Valley Technical Institute and the homeowners along Route 2.
The 2019-2020 school year has begun in a very positive manner with each school seeing success and gains on their school and students’ GSA results. Included in each school’s strategic plan is the professional development and goals identified to continue to improve in reading/language arts and mathematics.
